Trying out our lungs at altitude

Day 4 action:

Peter rode up Lookout Mountain with Marianne.

The elevation of the town of Golden is 5675ft and at the top of Lookout Mtn at Buffalo Bills Grave the elevation is 7375ft. So in the 5.1mile the elevation gain is 1700ft. The average gradient was 5.3%, which is challenging after only a few days at altitude! The 7375ft is higher than Kosciuszko!

About halfway up

3/4 of the way up
Marianne and Peter at the 3/4 mark, Marianne headed back down but Pete got all the way to the top!
The ride was a long version of Gyndier, with a few slightly steeper sections so you could all do it!

Rosie hiked the Chimney gulch trail up the same mountain whilst Peter & Marianne rode.

Meeting at the 3/4 mark

The hike was a three booter, 3miles roundtrip very enjoyable.
I stepped off the the trail to let a mountain bike rider pass, but he said "there's plenty of room and the rattlesnakes are in that grass"

We had slops for lunch again at a mexican restaurant but Pete actually like this slop, scrambled eggs with chorizo, mexican style. A trip to the restroom was well worthwhile.
